Epic Music Fail

Well, as I was decideing what to write about in this blog, several ideas came to mind: Rihanna and Chris Brown (WHAT WAS HE THINKING!!!??), diversity amongst communication studies majors, Hampden-Sydney boys vs. Longwood boys, etc... All of these ideas are things that are interesting, but not something I wanted to use for my first blog post.
How often do you go to college and find a roommate that fits your personality to a T? Well it definitely didn't happen to me my first semester. However, i did find a good one for my second year in college. She's great and she has a great personality. BUT she loves country music!!!
I'm not sure how to stress this to the true effect that it is but I do not love country music.
Faith Hill's sappy love songs, Brad Paisley's redneck adventures on a river, and Taylor Swift's strange ability to turn a tragedy about "two star-crossed lovers" into her own life does not make me want to listen to country music all day...or any part of the day for that matter.
Maybe it's because I'm from the place where people actually believe that Romeo and Juliet ends happily and that the best thing to do on a Sunday afternoon is floating on a river drinking endless amounts of Bud Light, but I have never grasped the concept of how this could make someone happy, relaxed, or even intelligent.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not the girl who sits and listens to Bach and Beethoven all day but that is just my thoughts on country music. Tom Petty, Elton John, Coldplay, and yes, even Britney Spears and Lil' Wayne make me happy. These people have upbeat, relazing, and fun lyrics that make me want to have a good day.
Well this is my first blog post on my rant of how I feel that country music is an epic fail. (:
